2018 + 80 Days = Huge Changes Coming My Way

My newest (and probably hardest challenge of my life) has been contemplated, decided, and is finally here:80 Day Obsession!!! I am finally SO READY to be committed and OBSESSED about what I put into my body, about getting the results and the body I have always dreamed of, about seeing my abs before that big 3-0 birthday hits me, and about becoming the athlete I always wished I was.

Beachbody has released it’s hardest program to date: 80 Day Obsession. It is 80 days of laser focused nutrition on a timed schedule, 80 completely different and new workouts which were filmed in real time so the cast is 100% relatable and going through the same journey as you, 80 HARD workouts that are a designed for a total body transformation with an emphasis on abs and booty (read: 6 pack and bubble butt), and 80 days of total mindset shift for so many people.

I watched the test group participants go through their own 80 day journey back in fall, and was mesmerized. Their lives literally completely changed. They all look fit AF and cried when day 80 came. None of them sugar coated the process and led me to believe it was easy, but rather showed me that it was challenging but worth it. I knew this was what I needed.

I hit my goal weight back in summer and let off the gas a bit since then. My eating became more lenient and I had treats more often than not. I still went hard with my workouts, but I completely proved that nutrition is more important than exercise because I have ended up gaining over 10 pounds back since July. I refuse to let my clothes get any tighter, and I also refuse to go into spring/summer feeling not as confident as I did last year. And with 59 days until Costa Rica, the timing of this program could not have come at a better time (except maybe 4 weeks earlier so I would be done with the program before I left, BUUUUT at least I will be 8 weeks deep by the time we head out, which means 8 weeks of dialed in nutrition under my belt and hopefully tons of changes in my body.

Day 1 has come and gone, and now today is day 4 of the program. Here is what I have experienced and felt so far:

Day 1: I was still in Utah when day 1 started, so I woke up and got the workout done first thing with enthusiasm. This was Total Body Core and it was 60 minutes. It was freaking TOUGH!!! Holy cow! Another unique feature of this program are the resistance loops that are used, which dial up the intensity about 10 notches. I love that it brings an entirely new set of challenges (and muscles worked) so I am feeling challenged in completely new ways. This workout used weights and the loops, but being at my moms I was restricted to a set of 5 pound and 3 pound weights, so I ended up holding two weights in each hand for the moves that I could. LOL! My eating was still total crap this day, but I was ok with that.

Day 2: This was my travel day coming home. I got up after 4 hours of sleep to get Booty day done, and I think I paid for it the rest of the day. Booty was another 60 minute workout that only used the loops and I FREAKING LOVED IT!!! I felt my booty in ways I didn’t even know I could, and it was totally awesome. However I think the combination of lack of sleep + energize on an empty stomach = dizziness and nausea alllll day long. I was in the airports/planes for 13+ hours and I spent the entire day trying so hard not to throw up or pass out. I hardly ate anything this day (including mcdonald’s breakfast) and no water and just was an awful day.

Day 3: Feeling better this day, back to work and home and my routine (mostly) so I was able to eat entirely healthy foods and drank a crap ton of water and felt so much better. Still didn’t get a full 8 hours of sleep so I was tired all day, but again, soooo much better than day 2. I have decided to move my workouts to after work since we are supposed to eat 60-90 minutes before the workout and they are longer in length, so this works out better for me rather than getting up hella early. After work, I did Cardio Core…. holy core and abs!!! This was a tough workout, but I surprisingly loved it. Cardio is not my favorite, but the format of the cardio is nice and it actually went by pretty quickly. I spent a little time after dinner foam rolling while watching tv because I could feel my muscles getting a little tight and sore. I truly believe that Recover is helping me TREMENDOUSLY not be as sore as I could have been, so I will def be drinking this daily during this program. Since I was finally home and had access to my full wardrobe, I took before photos/weight/measurements, and let’s just say I was not pleased. The picture above was actually taken on Jan. 1 and I felt/looked MUCH fluffier yesterday. Not happy at all.

Day 4: Today is now day 4 and I am feeling fantastic! I still didn’t get a full 8 hours of sleep, and am paying for it today. I can tell that sleep is going to be EXTREMELY important during this program, and next week that will be my area of focus. I am planning to go to bed early and sleep in a bit tomorrow to make up a little (and maybe again on Friday and Saturday nights too 😜) so that I can feel rested and back to my normal self at the end of this week. I have all my meals planned and ready for the day, and so far, do not feel the temptations of cheating. Well, seeing as this is really only day 2 of the meal plan, that really isn’t that big of a feat, but we are going to celebrate anything I can. Here are my meals for the day:

7:30am: Vegan cafe latte Shakeology, 8 oz unsweetened almond milk, 1/2 banana
11:30am: Sauteed chicken, roasted asparagus, 1/2 sweet potato, extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)
2:30pm: Orange, carrots, hummus
5:15pm: Sauteed turkey sausage, onions, peppers, roasted potatoes, EVOO
6:10pm: Energize
7:30pm: Recover + strawberries + blueberries
8:30pm: Steak, green beans, potatoes, EVOO

Totally loving this plan and the fact that I am UP a bracket. It is actually so much food, and again, I don’t really feel tempted by other foods yet. πŸ‘Œ

I plan to continue blogging this journey with weekly photos and measurements (probably not weight, because πŸ–• the scale – and I am really trying to embrace that thought). Can’t wait to see what week 1 brings! 😍

Each week an episode of Weekly Obsession is released to give us a look into the upcoming week so we can see what the cast went through and have an idea of what to expect. Here is week 1:
